Offshore, we have developed low-emission petroleum technology and advanced digital solutions for management, security and communication. The knowledge, innovation and development at IFE has created hundreds of billion NOK in values ​​for Norway and improved safety, environment and climate both at home and abroad. NORDIC MINING

Nordic Mining is a resource company with focus on high-end industrial minerals and metals in Norway and internationally. Its project portfolio is of high international standard and holds a significant economic potential. Its assets are in the Nordic region.

Nordic Mining has together with Institute for Energy Technology (“IFE”) developed a new technology for production of alumina. The technology is an innovative solution for -production of alumina from alumina-/ calcium-rich mineral sources such as anorthosite, with the -integrated use and storage of CO2. A patent was granted in the fall of 2015. Nordic Mining has extensive experience from processing and development of several different minerals and a broad network of expertise institutions internationally.

ADVANCED MINERALS AND RECYCLING INDUSTRIAL SOLUTIONS

AdMiRIS is a growing consulting company in Greece, offering industrial solutions with focus in materials mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, nanotechnology, recycling industries, metallic and industrial minerals. Its activity focus on research development, bridging the gap between fundamental/applied research and real market needs by transferring technology from academia to industry, with continuous interaction among leading universities and industries.

The expertise of the team is on the consultancy for Industrial Symbiosis, feasibility studies, Business Plan development, market & competitive analysis and environmental assessment. AdMiRIS participates in H2020 projects related to value creation of mining tailings and product recycling: ENSUREAL, RemovAl, AlSiCal and CROCODILE.

EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM ASSOCIATION

European Aluminium, founded in 1981, is the association that represents the whole value chain of the aluminium industry in Europe. We actively engage with decision-makers and the wider stakeholder community to promote the outstanding properties of aluminium, secure growth and optimise the contribution our metal can make to meeting Europe’s sustainability challenges.

Recently, European Aluminium has established an Innovation Hub for better connecting the European Aluminium industry to the research community. The Innovation Hub is a collaborative community committed to making aluminium a key enabler of Europe’s transition to a sustainable society. 14 companies and 2 groups of companies, focussing respectively on Buildings and on Transport applications, are directly engaged into the Hub.

HEROYA INDUSTRIPARK

Herøya Industripark is one of the leading industrial parks in Norway where more than 80 different companies are located. Herøya Industripark owns land, buildings and vital infrastructure which are leased out to operators on long term lease contracts. The companies have their activities in process chemistry, engineering, R&D and different support and maintenance services.

In recent years, a concept called Pilot Arena Herøya was developed to offer an industrial environment for the scale-up and development of industrial technologies and processes. This was done for more than 40 different companies and processes during the last years. We have close collaborations with R&D institutions and Universities to support the scale-up projects. In addition, we have access to important industrial competences and resources through the close collaboration with engineering companies, giving us the ability to design, build and operate industrial pilot plants in an industrial environment.

The department of planning hosts most of AAU’s research activities in the field of environmental and social impact assessment concerning infrastructures, industries and in this context not least mining and raw material exploitation activities.

MYTILINEOS ANONIMI ETAIRIA - OMILOS EPICHEIRISEON

MYTILINEOS holds a leading position in the sectors of Metallurgy, EPC, Electric Power and Gas Trading in Greece and has significant operations abroad. Through its industrial, energy and environmental investments in the industrial complex of ALUMINIUM OF GREECE in Agios Nikolaos, Viotia, one of the single largest investments ever to be carried out in Greece, MYTILINEOS has established itself as one of the strongest players in the Metallurgy sector in the European Union.

Today, MYTILINEOS owns the largest vertically integrated alumina and aluminium production plant in the European Union and, together with its mines, is able to drive the growth of the national and European economy as well as the country’s periphery. It is the second largest bauxite producer in Greece and Europe, with an annual production of 650,000 metric tons of bauxite exclusively from underground mines.

NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS - NTUA

NTUA is the oldest and most prestigious technical educational institution in Greece. NTUA is actively participating in many national and international research and development projects. NTUA reached 10th place in 2010 between educational organizations and 3rd position on Networking Rank and is a Partner in EIT Raw Materials.

The Laboratory of Metallurgy has been involved in more than 30 research projects, attracting in total more than 10 million Euros in funding and producing more than 300 scientific publications in journals and conferences. LabMet has significant expertise in primary aluminium metallurgy as well as in Bauxite Residue treatment technologies having developed several processes. Also LabMet has significant expertise in REEs metallurgy as well as in electrometallurgy.

ASOCIACION DE SERVICIOS DE GEOLOGIA Y MINERIA IBEROAMERICANOS

Asociación de Servicios de Geología y Minería Iberoamericanos (Association of Iberoamerican Geological and Mining Surveys, ASGMI), is the organisation of the Geological Surveys of Latin-America, the national institutions responsible for the geological inventory, monitoring, knowledge and research for the security health and prosperity of the Latin-American society.

Its mission is to contribute to the socio-economic development of society by horizontal, bilateral and multilateral cooperation between its associated members and the institutional strengthening of the associated Mining and Geological Surveys. ASGMI provides a reliable source of scientific expertise and advise to all Latin American countries on matters related to the sustainable use of geological resources, geological hazards, environment, pollution of water and soils, climate change effects, etc.

UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG – CIMERA

DSI-NRF CIMERA is a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Integrated Mineral and Energy Resource Analysis funded by the South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. It is hosted by the University of Johannesburg under Directorship of Prof Nikki Wagner and co-hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand under co-directorship of Prof Judith Kinnaird.

DSI-NRF CIMERA serves as a central hub for research and human resource development in mineral and energy resource in Africa. Collaborating scientists from ten other universities in South Africa as well as the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology (Germany) and Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) collaborate on a variety of applied economic geology research projects  (for more detail refer to www.cimera.co.za). DSI-NRF CIMERA currently provides funding to over 30 faculty staff members involved in its research programs in addition to a number of research associates and postdoctoral research fellows, and a compliment of some 75 Masters and Doctoral students.

INSTITUT NATIONAL POLYTECHNIQUE DE TOULOUSE

The “Laboratoire de Génie Chimique” stands among the biggest research units in the field of chemical engineering in France (with about 300 collaborators). It is a joint research unit of Toulouse INP, CNRS, and Paul Sabatier University. It is specialized in the study and design of chemical, physical or biological processes to transform raw materials into a final product.

Multidisciplinary research conducted at LGC focuses on the understanding and implementation of process operations combining experimental, modelling and numerical approaches. The scale of interest ranges from the molecules to the industrial pilot plants. LGC research interests focus on societal issues related to environment, energy, sustainable development, risk management, security and health.

PNO CONSULTANTS

PNO Consultants is part of the PNO group. The PNO Group, established in 1984, is Europe’s largest independent Grants and Innovation Management advisory, providing support services to private and public organizations in innovation processes, technology transfer and funding for R&D&I.

PNO is made up of a pool of around 250 professionals across 7 European Member States including scientists, engineers, consultants, a Brussels policy advisory service, as well as financial and legal experts. HELLENIC SURVEY OF GEOLOGY AND MINERAL EXPLORATION

Hellenic Survey of Geology and mineral Exploration is the successor of Institute of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME) of Greece and functions as governmental advisor on geoscientific and mining issues.

 

Among its general objectives are:

  • To explore and study the country’s geological structure
  • To locate and assess the mineral raw materials and geothermal fields
  • To develop the water resources of the Hellenic territory
Special emphasis is put on environmental protection and improvement of the quality of life. HSGME participates in several EU R&D programs, International and European Organisations and in EU and Regional projects co-financed by the Structural Funds.  It provides technical-material infrastructure and modern accredited laboratories (e.g. chemical - mineralogical analyses by means of ICP-OES, ICP-MS, SEM, XRD, TOC, environmental characterization – mineral ore processing  and technology  laboratories).
